Goodman on Pacifica TODAY – UpFront on KPFA

Calling in TODAY 8:08am Pacific/11:08am Eastern on the radio program UpFront on KPFA – We’ll be doing live coverage of Gina Haspel’s confirmation hearing, interspersed with commentary from you and the hosts.

The CIA’s Big Lie for Gina Haspel

The Central Intelligence Agency is rolling out the “big lie” on Capital Hill in order to gain confirmation for Gina Haspel as its director. Haspel became the CIA’s deputy director in February 2017 when then CIA director Mike Pompeo, who has endorsed torture and abuse, ignored the Senate Intelligence Committee’s authoritative report on torture and named one of tortures strongest advocates within the National Clandestine Service. The director of the Senate’s report, Senator Dianne Feinstein (D/CA) actually blocked Haspel’s appointment to become deputy director for operations in 2013 because of Haspel’s links to torture and abuse.

Getting some press overseas. The Hindi Times Reviews ‘Whistleblower at the CIA’ review: Flawed operations.

The Attacks on James Comey

Now the liberals are attacking James Comey and his important book, A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and Leadership. MSNBC’s Ari Melber and The New York Times’ oped writers, Charles Blow and Frank Bruni, have made outrageous attacks on Comey and his book in the past several weeks. Blow argues that neither Donald Trump nor James Comey should be held in high esteem and that both men have “raging egos and questionable motives.” Bruni states that watching Comey promote his book is “to see him descend” and that Comey has “joined Trump almost as much as he’s defying him.” Melber dismisses Comey as someone who has “doubled-down on his own mistakes.”
